APN, the backbone for the journey from electronics to photonics
In the present, light travels much faster than electricity, but today optical technology (photonics) is used mainly just for long-distance transmission. Information processing in devices and servers as well as other key network elements remain electrical.

A solution towards sustainability
APN (All-Photonics Network) will help respond to the explosive growth of data volume and power consumption demanded by current and future technologies. From 2016 to 2030 the IT-related power demand will increase up to 5000.
In our vision, APN will take photonics inside all information processing devices.
APN will also enable them to connect end-to-end optically.
It will also expand optical communications to terrestrial-satellite communications and undersea communications.
The change in power efficiency, transmission speed and latency will make a whole new connected world possible.
